This is an exciting time for football fans, as the NFL is back, and its first week did not disappoint.
Teams are hungry this year, and after the Philadelphia Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, other teams around the league are looking to add their names to the history books.
Philadelphia kicked off the season as they faced the Dallas Cowboys in a Thursday Night Football matchup. The Eagles wasted no time getting a win, and they beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-20. It was a close game, as both teams scored in the first quarter to make it 7-7, the second quarter was close, and Philadelphia had a field goal in the third. Neither team scored in the fourth.
The Eagles started their season off on a good note, and they were not the only ones. The next day, the Los Angeles Chargers started their season off with a big win, as they beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-21. Justin Herbert had a strong game for Los Angeles, and he had three touchdowns in the process. The game got close in the fourth quarter, as Travis Kelce had a touchdown to trim the Chargers’ lead, but a failed two-point conversion stopped them from tying the game. Then, Los Angeles scored to give themselves some breathing room. Kansas City had a field goal towards the end, but Los Angeles picked up a victory.
Sunday was jam-packed with action, and several teams picked up nice wins in the process. The Indianapolis Colts started off with a 33-8 win over the Miami Dolphins. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets in a close game, as they won 34-32. The Jets had a 32-31 lead at one point in the fourth quarter, but a late field goal put the Steelers on top.
The Jacksonville Jaguars took down the Carolina Panthers, as they beat them 26-10. The Arizona Cardinals have a win under their belt, as they beat the New Orleans Saints 20-13. The Washington Commanders picked up a nice 21-6 win over the New York Giants. Then, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Las Vegas Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers, the Denver Broncos and others picked up wins in their first week.
The Buffalo Bills also picked up a win over the Baltimore Ravens, as they beat them 41-40. A late field goal put them over the top.
Monday Night Football started off with a bang, as the Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears 27-24. A late touchdown from Chicago made it a three-point game, and while they had a lead early on, Minnesota’s huge fourth quarter was what gave them the win. They scored three times in that quarter.
The first week was great for some teams, and now, teams like the Chiefs and the Ravens have to wait to get their first win.
For now, Week 2 is about to get started, and the Packers and the Commanders will kick things off. With that said, stay tuned for a preview of the week.
