As reported cases of Alzheimer’s Disease continue to rise among Black Americans, a pioneering research project funded by the National Institutes of Health is determined to unveil the underlying reasons behind this alarming trend. Led by Dr. Travonia Brown-Hughes, a renowned professor at Hampton University, and Corewell Health neuroscientist Dr. Stewart Graham, the Black American United Memory and Aging project aims to gather data from 600 Black Americans aged 55 and older through urine, saliva, and cognitive tests.

Black American United Memory and Aging project is a $4.8 million study funded by the National Institutes of Health.

With a focus on prevention, the study offers compensation for participants and promises to provide valuable insights into the disease, its effects, and potential ways to slow down its progression.
