The Higher Education Consortium of Metropolitan St. Louis (HEC) is a pivotal organization dedicated to connecting individuals with higher education opportunities. Serving as a bridge between students and educational institutions, HEC promotes access, support, and success in higher education across the St. Louis metropolitan area.

TRIO Educational Opportunity Programs

HEC administers three federally funded TRIO Programs that provide essential services to participants, ranging from academic support to financial guidance. These programs include:

TRIO Educational Talent Search

TRIO Upward Bound

TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC)

With its programs, HEC focuses on increasing access to higher education and ensuring participants receive the tools they need to succeed.

Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC)

The TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) offer free, personalized advising and resources for qualifying adults who wish to pursue or continue post-secondary education. The centers focus on removing barriers to education by providing services such as:

Guidance on college admissions

Advising on financial aid options

Basic financial literacy and planning assistance

The mission of the EOC is clear: to increase access to quality post-secondary education and equip participants with financial and academic tools for success.

Everyone Deserves Access to Higher Education

Have you been told that “college isn’t for everyone”? While traditional college may not suit every individual, everyone deserves access to post-secondary education tailored to their career goals. Higher education is not limited to four-year colleges; it includes trade schools, certificate programs, community colleges, and other pathways to help individuals achieve personal and professional success.

You are education material. The goal is to find a higher education pathway that aligns with your aspirations, empowering you to realize and exceed your ambitions.

Who We Serve

HEC proudly serves participants in the greater St. Louis metropolitan region, encompassing St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and neighboring counties like Madison, St. Clair, and Clinton. Annually, HEC supports over 859 middle and high school students and 4,000 adult learners through partnerships with schools, institutions of higher learning, and community organizations.
