In a time when representation in sports media continues to evolve, few are leading the charge as boldly and purposefully as Lakisha “KB” Brooks. The Valdosta, Georgia native, journalist, digital creator, producer, and founder of KB Sports Media, is on a mission—one that fuses food, fandom, and female empowerment through her groundbreaking national docuseries, The Bar Set Tour.

Launching in Fall 2025, The Bar Set Tour is more than just a show—it’s a movement. As the first-ever national docuseries to spotlight women-owned sports bars across the U.S., the series captures the vibrancy, spirit, and soul of a rising cultural shift: women’s sports taking center stage in spaces created by women and for everyone.

From TitleTown to Trailblazer

Lakisha Brooks was born and raised in Valdosta, Georgia—a place fittingly dubbed “Title Town USA.” Surrounded by the strength of her family and the structure of a supportive home with both parents present, she grew up grounded in values that would shape her future. “My parents were the foundation of who I am, what I believe in, and what I value,” Lakisha shares. The loss of her mother three years ago still resonates deeply, but it’s clear that her mother’s strength and spirit remain ever-present in Lakisha’s work.

With over two decades of experience in journalism, on-air hosting, producing, and storytelling, Lakisha has done it all. But perhaps her boldest career move came when she left behind the traditional corporate world—where she served as VP of DEI at the International Coaching Federation—to pursue her media career full-time. “Honestly, making the choice to leave corporate was my greatest challenge,” she admits. “But it was time to follow my passion.”

What Is The Bar Set Tour?

The Bar Set Tour is a road trip across eight cities and nine bars, starting in Atlanta and ending in Seattle, with one goal: spotlighting the culture and community behind women-owned sports bars. “I ran across an article that mentioned these bars were popping up across the U.S.,” Lakisha says. “But a picture can only show so much. I wanted people to feel what it’s like inside. What it tastes like. What it sounds like.”

Each episode of the docuseries will feature behind-the-scenes footage, candid interviews with bar owners and fans, highlights of signature dishes and drinks, and the overall atmosphere that defines each location. It’s a love letter to women’s sports and the spaces that celebrate them.

More than showcasing the bars themselves, The Bar Set Tour is telling the stories of the people behind the bars: the women entrepreneurs, the communities they serve, and the fans—male and female alike—who are creating a new kind of sports culture.

Visibility, Equity, and Community

Lakisha’s passion for equity runs deep. During her tenure as Vice President at the International Coaching Federation, she helped lead DEI efforts for 60,000 members and 100 staff. She brings that same intentionality to The Bar Set Tour.

“These bars are providing space for visibility, to be seen, heard, and valued,” she explains. “They’re creating equal equity spaces in a culture that has historically sidelined women.”

Through the lens of The Bar Set Tour, Lakisha is reframing what mainstream sports culture can look like—where storytelling becomes a powerful tool in fighting stereotypes and broadening understanding.

“Storytelling should be the art of any journalism,” she says. “Whether it’s women’s sports, high school sports, or any sports. I want to show the women behind the scenes, to remove the stigma and stereotypes around women’s sports.”

The Power of Food and Fandom

For Lakisha, sports and food are inseparable. “I’m a foodie. I love to cook,” she says with a laugh. “When you think about sports, you think about the food—the chicken, the dips, the sliders. That’s part of the culture.”

She believes food is the gateway to community, and The Bar Set Tour captures that beautifully. From tailgate bites to signature cocktails, the series uses food as a storytelling device to connect viewers with the spirit of each location.

“It brings people together—arguing about teams, cheering for players, and just enjoying the moment. That’s what sports are about.”

A Legacy of Impact

For all her professional accolades, Lakisha’s most cherished accomplishment is deeply personal. Helping her father secure a VA loan so her mother could live out her final year in a new home is a memory that fuels her purpose every day.

“My mother wanted a new house and she got to enjoy Thanksgiving in that house,” Lakisha recalls. “That meant everything to me.”

As The Bar Set Tour gears up for its 2026 premiere, fans can look forward to limited-edition merchandise—including city-specific T-shirts—and ongoing coverage from Lakisha, who continues to report on sports, host interviews, and produce digital content through KB Sports Media.

When asked what she wants to be remembered for, Lakisha doesn’t mention fame or fortune.

“I want the world to know I was a loving, charismatic, and bold person—those are my initials, after all,” she smiles. “It’s about the impact I had on others through my storytelling, broadcasting, and videos. I hope at least one piece of my media inspired someone.”
