In a world where hustle culture often drowns out the voice of well-being, Toni Jones has become a revolutionary sound. Hailed as The Queen of Affirmation Music, Toni fuses healing, self-empowerment, and conscious self-talk into a sonic experience that is reshaping the emotional landscape of women everywhere. Her music isn’t just something to stream—it’s a movement, a mantra, and for many, a lifeline.

From Church Girl to Conscious Creator

Toni Jones was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, raised in a strict religious household in what she calls “a very church girl experience.” With both parents at home and a suburban upbringing deeply rooted in Detroit’s church culture, Toni’s early life was structured, spiritual, and sheltered. Yet, that very structure didn’t prepare her for the unpredictable terrain of adulthood.

After being married for eight years, Toni found herself navigating a new world post-divorce—one she admits she had no tools to survive. “It’s traumatizing going from your parents’ house, to marriage, to outside of marriage without any tools,” she said. NaĂŻvetĂ© about relationships and a lack of street sense left her feeling exposed, lost, and unprepared. After years living in New York, North Carolina, and Baltimore, she returned home to Michigan, determined to rebuild. That journey included returning to school for a psychology degree, and surprisingly, taking on a role as a substitute teacher in a music class—a moment that would unexpectedly change the course of her life.

The Birth of Affirmation Music

Despite having no formal musical background and a self-professed fear of microphones and memorizing lyrics, Toni’s time teaching music class wasn’t about chords or notes—it was about the psychology of music. During this period, she stumbled upon the term narcissistic personality disorder while researching manipulation. That discovery, coupled with her own pattern of people-pleasing and emotional vulnerability, sparked a deep desire to “hack her own behavior” and eventually led her to become a life coach.

But coaching came with its own challenges. “My clients were using me like a sedative,” she said. “They weren’t practicing the tools I gave them.” Frustrated, Toni pleaded with God for a new idea—something that would allow her clients to carry her coaching into their everyday lives. What came to her during meditation was revolutionary: Affirmation Music.

At the time, the term didn’t even exist. Toni had coined it. She began writing and recording songs that fused coaching techniques with soulful, melodic affirmations—simple, intentional lyrics designed to reprogram the mind and heal the heart.

The Album That Changed Everything—and Nearly Broke Her

On March 19, 2019—during Women’s History Month—Toni released Affirmations for the Grown Ass Woman, a 9-track project symbolizing the 9 months it takes to birth a child. “I wanted women to press play and immediately never go back to who they used to be,” she said.

The album went viral.

Ironically, what should have been her breakthrough became her breakdown. That same week, she lost her job as a Dream Director. Her house was broken into. The man she was dating went back to his ex—and she found out on Instagram. “I didn’t have the coping skills,” she confessed. Overwhelmed by loss and trauma, Toni attempted to take her own life.

After being hospitalized and admitted to a psych ward, she emerged shaken but determined. “I said, no matter what happens this year, I’m going to save myself,” she said. “The world I needed to change was me.”

The Phoenix Rises: Toni’s Healing and Her Musical Evolution

From that point on, Toni’s focus became clear: take care of herself first. It was a slow, intentional process. She shut down her coaching business in 2020 and committed fully to music as her ministry.

In May 2020, during Mental Health Awareness Month, she released Affirmations and Chill, an EP aimed at helping people find balance during the chaos of quarantine. Toni admits it’s her least favorite project. “It was pure zeal,” she said. “I didn’t have a professional ear yet. But it was passionate.”

Her next project, I See Me: Mantras, was a bold, raw offering born from her own pain and pettiness. Songs like “Lens Check,” “I See Thoughts,” and “Being Real Is the New Fake” transformed heartbreak and betrayal into powerful affirmations. “I had to give my pettiness to God,” she said. “I couldn’t vindicate myself on social media, so I alchemized my ego into lyrics.”

One of her most anthemic tracks, “Take Up Space Sis,” is a vibrant, sonic celebration of feminine energy and emotional freedom. “It was about women going wild and big,” Toni said. “It was about being vocal, unashamed of your truth.”

Her Greatest Challenge: Love and the Patriarchy

Despite her evolving success, Toni is candid about her toughest struggle—men. “My relationship with men has been my greatest challenge,” she shared. “I would always choose him over myself.” But in late 2023 and early 2024, something shifted. She had the opportunity to love someone, and for the first time, she chose herself. “It was a glitch,” she said. “But I knew I had to honor myself, even if he walked away.”

This awakening redefined how she views partnership. “I had to learn that I am a source of evolution. learning to choose herself over the societal programming that often asks women to sacrifice their power for love. She shared how, for the first time, she embraced the uncomfortable but necessary act of putting herself first, realizing that her value isn’t defined by how well she conforms to a man’s needs, but by honoring her own worth as a source of evolution and empowerment. A man only evolves by being close to me,” she said. “Choosing myself is my greatest accomplishment. I had no blueprint. No one taught me. But I’ll never abandon myself again.”

A Legacy of Self-Remembrance

When asked what she wants to leave behind, Toni’s answer is both poetic and profound: “Nothing, honestly. Just know yourself. Remember yourself. That’s how you remember me. That’s how you honor me. Know you.”

Toni Jones isn’t just making music—she’s making medicine. Her lyrics are rituals. Her beats are balms. Her voice is the anthem of healing for a generation of women rediscovering themselves. Through every heartbreak, every mental health battle, and every word she says, Toni proves that self-love is not a destination—it’s a journey. And she’s here to soundtrack every step of the way.
