Before I delve into the cultural phenomenon that captivated audiences during my time, let me share what made me appreciate some of the standout early seasons. In my family growing up watching Saturday Night Live was the only thing to do.
There weren’t many concerts to go to, and my parents were quite strict, so being glued to the television at 10 and 13 years old seemed like the best option. Some of my fondest memories of SNL include the hilarious ‘King Tut’ parody by Steve Martin, which prompted me to ask my mom to buy the records he released from that segment.
I was a huge fan of his comedy, but as I grew older, that enthusiasm waned. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that SNL’s improvisational skits and parodies just weren’t as funny as they used to be.

Occasionally, I would spot a special guest host or co-star that I liked and would tune in to watch. However, in my view, only Maya Rudolph, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, and Bill Murray truly captured my attention.
