Farming is one of the oldest professions in the world. It allows you to bring healthy food to the market for others to enjoy as well as to help support your family’s needs. Black farmers are not new, however, over the past several generations, their farms have fallen out of the limelight.

Black farming is a wonderful combination of land ownership, sustenance, and true liberation. Farmers are an often undervalued part of the food chain with black farmers being overlooked more often than not.

With more of a focus on homegrown produce, the importance of local farming is starting to get the attention it deserves. Even more important are black farmers and farmers of color who help keep America’s food chain intact.

Here is are some of our favorite Black-owned farms that we think you should know about.
