Shaquille O’Neal will be in town to burn tables at St Louis’ very famous Mardi Gras weekend

One top name that will be part of all of the fun is NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, that is right. Big Shaq will be DJing at one of the venues during the Saturday afternoon tent party.

Some critics would say that Mardi Gras is a New Orleans experience. Maybe those critics haven’t been to St Louis’ Mardi Gras celebration.

According to blog site Trip Savvy, St Louis is the 6th best destination for this big parade of a party. While, New Orleans is No. 1, and 4 other warmer cities beat out St Louis respectively.

But St Louis knows how to party, starting with the dog parade, the Mayor Ball, Friday, February 25th, and Saturday, February 26th, the Grand Parade. The Soulard neighborhood is the hub for Mardi Gras.

Several bars, cafes and restaurants go all out to offer the patrons the best in 2nd tier New Orleans fun. Even though St Louis has its own classy way of getting down. There are still some raunchy moments up and down the Soulard corridors.

One top name that will be part of all of the fun is NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, that is right. Big Shaq will be DJing at one of the venues during the Saturday afternoon tent party.

Shaq goes by the name of DJ Diesel when he is DJing, and this is not his first rodeo. He had DJ’d at Lollapalooza in 2019, and Orlando’s Electric Daisy Carnival.

The event is sold out as of the writing of this blog, so those who wanted to see him get down, too late. The Effen Tent by Social Bar & Grill in Soulard, will open at 11:00 a.m., with ticket prices starting at $100 to $1,000. There will be an open bar, and food catered by Kenrick’s Meat and Catering.

The visit by Shaq/DJ Diesel coincides with other events happening around the city during Mardi Gras celebrations. In order to get into indoor events put on by Soulard Mardi Gras, which includes their Mardi Gras Village tents, event organizers recently announced attendees must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 rapid or PCR test within 72 hours of attendance.

A press release detailed Mardi Gras organizers are working with Ballpark Village, which is providing rapid COVID-19 tests throughout the Mardi Gras season.
