What's Now
This is Williams' first Coach of the Year award, and after an incredible season, it is well-deserved. From the tragedy of losing his wife, Ingrid Williams, from a car crash in 2016, up to this point, Williams has persevered and fought through any obstacle. And now, he is getting the recognition he deserves.
Crawford was the eighth pick of the 2000 draft. He was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers but was traded to the Chicago Bulls in a draft-day trade. He played four seasons with the Bulls, and during his last season, he averaged 17.3 points per game. This was a drastic improvement from his first season, where he averaged 4.6 points per game.
Stephenson came out hot. He scored 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc, in 6:23 of first quarter playing time. He became the first player in recorded NBA history to score 20 first quarter points off the bench. He scored 30 points in this game, but the Nets went on to beat the Pacers.
Thomas became a household name in Boston, and in his first season with the Celtics, he finished second in the Sixth Man of the Year race. Then, Thomas improved, and by his third year with the Celtics, he averaged a career-high 28.9 points.
