Because They Cared: A Celebration of Caregivers and Survivors

Caregivers and Survivors: As we step into 2026, a year of reflection and gratitude for The Empowerment Network, Inc., I am reminded of the profound impact of care and compassion. This year’s theme, “Because They Cared,” encapsulates the heart of our mission and the essence of survivorship. It is a declaration of gratitude to the caregivers, doctors, and loved ones who have been the quiet heroes behind every survival story.

For many of us, survivorship didn’t begin in a doctor’s office. It began with someone who cared enough to say, “You need to get checked.” It started with a spouse who wouldn’t stop worrying, a friend who kept calling, or a doctor who went above and beyond to save a life. Because They Cared, we found the courage to face the truth, seek help, and fight for our lives.

Honoring the Quiet Heroes

This year, we shine a light on the caregivers and doctors who have walked this journey with us. These quiet heroes are the strength behind our survival stories, the hearts behind our healing. They comforted us through sleepless nights, lifted us when our spirits were low, and reminded us that we were never alone. Their compassion was more than kindness; it was the power that kept us going.

Because They Cared, we survived. Their love became our lifeline, and their unwavering support gave us hope when we needed it most.

The D.I.V.A.S. of The Empowerment Network

In 2026, we dedicate this year to the extraordinary women who embody the spirit of caregiving. These women are the D.I.V.A.S. of The Empowerment Network: Dedicated, Inspiring, Victorious, Amazing Sisters.

Caregivers are the backbone of our organization, standing strong beside cancer survivors with grace, courage, and compassion. They are wives, mothers, grandmothers, and friends who give selflessly, yet never lose sight of their own strength and dignity.

Being a Diva is about more than style or appearance; it’s about purpose, poise, and resilience. These women uplift, encourage, and empower even when their own hearts are heavy. They bring balance to chaos, peace to pain, and light to the darkest moments.

A Call to Action: Because They Cared

“Because They Cared” is not just a theme; it’s a call to action. It reminds us that care saves lives, love gives hope, and none of us can do this work alone. This year, The Empowerment Network will celebrate the caregivers and doctors who have made survival possible. We will tell their stories, honor their sacrifices, and say with full hearts, “Thank you.”

At the core of every survivor’s story is someone who refused to give up, someone who cared enough to act. Care and caring are not small acts; they are the roots of hope and the soil in which love grows.

Celebrating Survivorship and Caregiving

As we move forward, our mission remains strong: to educate, empower, and save lives. But in 2026, we do so with a renewed sense of appreciation for the people who make survival possible.

This year, let us celebrate the caregivers and Divas who have been the quiet strength behind the scenes. Let us honor their dedication, their grace, and their unwavering love.

Because They Cared, we survived. Because They Cared, we thrived. Because They Cared, The Empowerment Network continues to stand as a light of hope for families in St. Louis and across the nation.
