Heart Health Takes Center Stage at SXSW

The Black Heart Association (BHA), a nonprofit dedicated to cardiovascular education and prevention, is set to provide free on-site heart screenings at SXSW 2026 in Austin, Texas. Founded by Tara Robinson, a three-time heart attack survivor, BHA aims to make life-saving heart health resources accessible to all.

A Mission Rooted in Personal Experience

Tara Robinson’s life changed after surviving three heart attacks in one week. This experience inspired her to create BHA in 2017. The organization focuses on raising awareness about heart disease and providing preventive screenings to communities nationwide.

ā€œOur goal is to reach people before a crisis occurs,ā€ Robinson shared. ā€œBy offering screenings for LDL-C (bad cholesterol) and Lp(a) (a genetic cholesterol risk factor), we help individuals understand their risks early.ā€

What to Expect at SXSW 2026

BHA’s activation at SXSW will offer free cardiovascular screenings and educational resources. The event will take place on March 15–16, 2026, at LZR, located at 612 W 4th Street, Austin, TX.

Attendees can learn about their heart health while engaging with one of the world’s most influential gatherings of innovators, entrepreneurs, and cultural leaders.

Corporate Support for a Healthier Future

The Guard Your Heart (GYH) Tour, sponsored by Amgen, aims to screen over 10,000 people nationwide. Eli Lilly is also contributing by sponsoring 1,200 Lp(a) screenings. These partnerships highlight the importance of early detection and education in preventing heart disease.
