We all have heard many of the reasons to exercise at some point in our lives.  So why aren’t we taking the advice given by our family members, doctors, and public service announcements about eating right and exercising?

Intellectually, you know what to do, but you are physically unable to do it because you are wrestling with your flesh and blood.  You cannot succeed because the root of the problem is sin, and no amount of personal willpower overcomes sin.

If that were the case, Jesus would not have had to leave His Heavenly home to die in our place.  The only cure for sin is the blood of Jesus Christ!  Without Him, you are wrestling alone against powers, principalities, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in the high places (Ephesians 6:12).

In other words, you are in a spiritual battle, but you are fighting with ineffective, carnal weapons.  The battlefield is your mind, but victory will only be had through Jesus Christ because the battle is the Lord’s.

If you are having trouble getting up and starting another health and fitness program or exercise plan, or you are on the verge of quitting the plan you are on, don’t!  Your miracle truly is on the way.

Anyone who has struggled to become healthy and fit knows that it is impossible to lose the weight and permanently keep it off once you have stopped flirting with your desire to eat whatever you want whenever you want and finally surrendered to the lust of your flesh.  Every sin begins with lust or temptation, if you will.

In this case, lust leads to the sin of gluttony, and gluttony turns into idolatry because you inadvertently make “a god of your belly” (Philippians 3:18b-19).  In regard to eating disorders, lust causes you not to eat and drink for the glory of God or otherwise take care of your body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 10:31).

To truly be set free from the trap the enemy has set, you need the blood of Jesus.  His sacrifice is the only way to be free from sin.  He is ready to give you your miracle.  All you must do is say your ABC’s.

Lord, I accept that my health and fitness problem is rooted in sin.  Lord, I believe that Jesus died for my sins, including the sins of gluttony, idolatry, and failing to take care of my body by eating and drinking for Your glory, so that I will have eternal life with You and an abundant life on earth.

I confess that I have committed those sins and ask You to forgive me and save me from the destructive path that I am on both physically and spiritually. The Bible is clear that, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:23).  We all know people who collected the wages of heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes after years of laboring under the sins of gluttony and idolatry.

Sadly, their labor profits them nothing but heartache, sickness, pain, and an early death.  If they are unbelievers when they die, they also suffer the consequence of spending eternity in hell.  Don’t be counted in that number!  Claim your miracle today and live the abundant life in the Promised Land of Healthy and Fit for Life here on earth.  Then spend eternity with God in Heaven when it is time to transition to your final rest.
