Our condolences here at The Narrative Matter goes out to Young Dolph’s family and friends.

Another great talented rapper is gun down senselessly. We have to be held accountable for killing our own.

Over the last two years, we have witnessed many violent murder deaths in the rap industry due to gun violence. . Talented rappers on the verge of mainstream success have lost their lives from the likes of M03, FBG Duck, King Von, and Pop Smoke.

It is with deep sadness and regrets that we have to inform you that highly acclaimed rap superstar Adolph Robert Thorton Jr. better known as Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis TN, Wednesday afternoon inside of Makeda’s Butter Cookies. The owner of the bakery Maurice Hill, said that Dolph was inside of the store to buy cookies when someone drove up and shot and killed him.

Young Dolph rose to national prominence in 2014 with the release of his mixtape “High-Class Street Music 4” and his hit single Preach. In 2016, He collaborated with OT Genasis on the massive double-platinum hit single “Cut It”

Throughout his career, He would have multiple attempts on his life.  In February 2017 Dolph’s bulletproof car was shot over 100 times in Charlotte North Carolina while he was in town for a performance. In September of that same year, He was shot multiple times but survived his injuries.

The Memphis Legend was scheduled to pass out turkeys at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis this Friday between 2-5 p.m but was gunned down in his own hometown.

When will this senseless gun violence stop? It seems as if that is becoming a  rhetorical question.

He leaves behind his girlfriend Mia Jaye, a daughter, and a son.
