Our mission is to provide resources, education and an environment for creative upcycling that encourages change in a more responsible community.

Education

At ScrapsKC, we champion the belief that learning knows no bounds, and every day presents opportunities to discover something new through meaningful experiences. 

Founding

Brenda Mott, ScrapsKC’s founder, spent her childhood in the 70’s  discovering, building, and creating sparked a lifelong passion for repurposing and reimagining.

As a teacher, Brenda recognized the value of resourcefulness and regularly repurposed items for her classroom. In 2016, together with her husband Jeff, she opened the doors of ScrapsKC in the West Bottoms.

Thanks to the boundless generosity of our community, ScrapsKC flourished into a dynamic hub for artists, families, educators, and creators of all kinds, now located in the heart of Midtown.

Whether you seek supplies, inspiration, or simply a warm and inviting space, you’ll find it here.

Together, we’re weaving a tapestry of creativity, compassion, and sustainability, making Kansas City a brighter, more inclusive place for all. Thank you for joining us on this transformative journey!

Provide volunteer opportunities

Our volunteer program welcomes the homeless community to join us in maintaining and enhancing ScrapsKC to boost their self-esteem and leverage their skills, paving the way for a brighter future. 

Offer survival care

Our homeless volunteers receive essential support including food, clothing, and vital survival items. We also provide them with a sense of dignity, acknowledging their contributions and helping them navigate through each day with greater resilience.

Share with them on the streets

ScrapsKC works directly with the homeless on the streets and excess dignity and survival donations are shared with those in dire need.

Homelessness

ScrapsKC is dedicated to offering volunteer opportunities for the homeless population of Kansas City. We provide a safe, welcoming space that offers respite and hope for those experiencing homelessness. We hope to play a part in their renewal as they strive to be contributing members of our community.
