As the NBA season approaches the playoffs, discover which teams are leading the race in the Eastern Conference. Highlighting top contenders and standout performances, get ready for an exciting postseason.

The NBA season is winding down, and teams are getting ready for the playoffs. There have been some exceptional performances throughout the year, and the stars are leading the way. They are playing at a high level, and their teams are reaping the benefits in the process. At this point in the season, there are teams that have proved they can win a championship. The Eastern Conference is up for grabs, but if a team steps up, a title is within reach. The East has some exceptional talent, and this year’s champion could easily come from that conference. So, here are a few teams to keep an eye on.
1.) Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons had an excellent regular season, and they put the league on notice. They are first in the Eastern Conference, and when the Play-In Tournament wraps up, they will know their opponent. The Pistons are headed to the playoffs for a second year in a row, which shows that they are trending in the right direction. Before that, they had their share of struggles, and their worst record was 14-68. It is safe to say they turned things around, and their star, Cade Cunningham, is a major factor.
Cunningham continues to make a name for himself, and he is a potential Most Valuable Player (MVP) candidate. He is averaging 24.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists this year, and he has had some phenomenal performances. For example, he had 42 points against the New York Knicks back in February. His best performance was a 46-point game against the Washington Wizards, and that happened towards the beginning of the season. Cunningham and the Pistons are a legitimate threat, and their playoff journey could end with a championship.
2.) Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference, and after starting the season without one of their stars, they are at their full strength. Jayson Tatum is back in action, and he has helped the team remain one of the conference’s best. As far as Brown, he has had an MVP caliber season of his own, and he is averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists. If Boston’s duo plays at a high level, the Celtics could bring home another championship.
3.) Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers were the top team in the East last year, and this year, they dropped down a bit. Injuries played a factor, but with the addition of James Harden, the Cavaliers have gotten back on track. They lost to the Indiana Pacers in last year’s playoffs, and now, they are ready to redeem themselves. Luckily, their backcourt of Harden and Donovan Mitchell has plenty of playoff experience, as neither has missed the playoffs at any point in their career. In Harden’s case, he has made the playoffs 17 times. This could be the year he wins it all, but with the way the Eastern Conference has been, everyone has a legitimate shot.
These three teams have a shot at winning it all, and when the dust settles, there may be a new champion.Â
