I’m not going to sit here and lie—while I don’t get to watch much of Tyler Perry’s work, when I do, I can promise it’s usually good or at least pretty close. After binge-watching The Haves and the Have Nots several times, I decided to give the No. 1 Netflix drama Beauty in Black a try.

I remembered when it first premiered a few seasons ago; I watched some of the early episodes but wasn’t really impressed. However, with all the spoilers circulating as I waited for Season 2 to drop on March 19th, I figured I’d grab some popcorn and a lemon-twisted glass of tea, and binge-watch Season 1.

In just two days, I finished all 16 episodes. Then over the weekend, I completed Season 2 and found myself a fan favorite on social media. With over 132 comments and likes from Tyler Perry fans, they applauded me for taking a chance on their series.

So, if you have some free time, I highly recommend checking out Beauty in Black on Netflix—you’ll be glad you did.
