When it comes to skincare lines, many of these products don’t suit the needs of the Black community. Making matters even worse, doctors don’t properly treat Black skin. Instead, they misdiagnose us and make our symptoms worse.

Even celebrities such as former Disney child star Tia Mowry have noticed that there’s little to no information on how skin conditions can affect different races of people. In most cases, they take on a different appearance. Disorders such as eczema and hyperpigmentation are common among Black people. However, healthcare providers are unfamiliar with how to treat these skin irritants on Black skin.

Fortunately, prominent Black celebrities have come up with ways to treat our skin the right way. A few months back, Hollywood power couple Idris and Sabrina Elba launched their own skincare line S’Able, which alleviated common skin conditions found in the Black community.

Now social media’s favorite power couple Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade stepped up to the plate. Recently, the couple debuted their own skincare line Proudly for BIPOC babies suffering from skin disorders.

The Couple Didn’t Want Black Parents And Their Children To Suffer Anymore

Back in the day, our parents and grandparents used vaseline to solve all our skin issues. However, that myth has since been debunked. People have come up with more natural and effective ways to solve Black skin issues.

Furthermore, Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union endured their own struggles with skincare growing up. During a recent interview with Madamenoire, Wade recalled going through several bottles of lotion to gain skin perfection. However, none of the products worked.

Additionally, the famous couple struggled to find different remedies for one of their own child’s skin rashes. To their surprise, both Wade and Union discovered that none of the lotions they used worked.

After the couple researched their child’s skin issues, they came up short. They discovered that nothing had been done to address this wide concern that many Black parents faced with their babies. Ultimately, this led Union and Wade to create a skincare line with BIPOC infants in mind.
