WASHINGTON, D.C. Monday, December 16, 2024 – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Alliance for Black Business (NABB) are proud to announce preparations for the Caribbean Trade Mission 2025, a pioneering initiative designed to cultivate sustainable economic partnerships between Black American businesses and Caribbean enterprises. This mission will serve as a catalyst for innovation, market expansion, and economic resilience throughout the Pan-African diaspora.

This announcement follows the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between USAID and NABB on August 23, 2024, during the National Business League’s 124th National Black Business Conference co-hosted by NABB. The MOU marked a significant milestone in advancing equitable trade and shared prosperity across the Caribbean and beyond.

As part of the mission’s groundwork, a high-level delegation, including USAID officials and representatives of leading Black American businesses, will conduct a scoping visit to Jamaica and Barbados from December 15-20, 2024. This engagement will connect with regional stakeholders, host governments, trade agencies, and business leaders to lay the foundation for the full-scale trade mission in 2025.

“Together with USAID, we are building bridges for sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity across the U.S. and the Caribbean. This mission will create opportunities that empower entrepreneurs and transform economic relationships across the diaspora,” said Dr. Ken L. Harris, Co-founder of NABB and President/CEO of the National Business League.

The Caribbean Trade Mission 2025 will prioritize key sectors including agriculture, technology, manufacturing, tourism, energy, and finance. By fostering cross-border partnerships, the initiative aims to unlock new opportunities for long-term growth and economic transformation.
