As the year comes to an end. Everyone is excited about what awaits them at the start of 2023. Here are three black films that are must-sees that are premiering at the top of the year.
The Drop
In this clever comedy, the story follows a young couple who have their careers figured out and begin to make plans to start a family of their own. But all of those plans are thrown into a whirlwind after one of them drops their friend’s baby. while at a destination wedding on a tropical island. The film is Directed by Sarah Adina Smith starring Utkarsh Ambudkar, Jillian Bell, and Gene Farber. The film debuts on the HULU streaming service on January 13, 2023.
House Party
If you loved the original; House Party films during the 90s, Warner Bros is remaking this cult classic. Starring Bill Bellamy, D.C. Young Fly, Jacob Latimore, Karen Obilom, Shakira Ja’nai Paye, and Tosin Cole. Aspiring club promoters Damon and Kevin are out of money and down on their luck. They have just been fired from their jobs as house cleaners. The two friends need a huge break to make their problems go away. They decide to host the party of the year at an exclusive mansion on the site of their last cleaning job, which just happens to belong to none other than LeBron James without his permission. What could go wrong? The film is slated to be released in theaters on January 13, 2023.
Creed III
Directed by Michael B. Jordan. and starring Jonathan Majors, Michael B. Jordan, Phylicia Rashad, and Tessa Thompson. While dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed has been thriving in both his career and family life. All of that is thrown off once a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damien Anderson, resurfaces after serving a lengthy sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damien who has nothing to lose. This film is slated to be released in theaters on March 3, 2023.
