Freedom truly is priceless. Unfortunately, people who have never been bound to someone or something do not fully appreciate it. Consequently, they are much more likely to give up their freedom little by little, if not all at once, for various reasons. However, a person who has been bound and chained recognizes freedom for the precious commodity that it is, and that person will do everything in his power to remain free. This principle also applies to health and fitness.

People looking for a quick solution to the problem often only want the pounds of fat to vanish while they continue to eat and drink the same unhealthy foods and beverages. They do not really want to be free because they like being entangled with the sins of gluttony, making idols of their stomachs and food, and failing to take care of their bodies by eating and drinking for the glory of God. In other words, they do not recognize that they have been ensnared by sin through their own lusts. Consequently, the Bible explains that, “As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly” (Proverbs 26:11). That is what happens when a person moves from one diet fad or diet gimmick to another searching for a quick fix to a monumental problem in their lives.

On the other hand, others understand that they have a problem and truly desire to rid themselves of it. However, they also do not understand that the root of the problem is sin. As a result, they continue to experience failure instead of achieving permanent health and fitness success. Notwithstanding, a few find the true path to permanently sustained weight loss and freedom from eating disorders through Jesus Christ! They not only accept that their problem is entanglement with sin, but they also believe Jesus will forgive them for committing the sin. Most importantly, they confess their sins and repent of them.

Afterwards, they testify that, “Whom the Son sets free truly is free indeed!” (John 8:36). Furthermore, they gladly and gratefully move forward in victory instead of returning to the place of bondage. Therefore, I encourage you today to repent and be set free indeed. Then, “Stand fast, therefore, in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage” (Galatians 5:1).If you refuse to return to health and fitness bondage, purchase your copies of the Eating as an Act of Worship Workbook and the Eating as an Act of Worship Teacher’s Edition online today at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.com.  In the books, you will learn the biblical principles regarding the body, dieting, exercising, and maintaining a healthy body for the glory of God.  Read our weekly blog for motivation to stay healthy and fit through Christ.  Follow us daily on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest for recipes, and diet and exercise tips.  Tune in to our syndicated radio show on iTunes, Spotify, the StudioW Buzz Radio Station, and Victory KVDW 100.9 FM, 95.3 FM, and 1530 AM in Little Rock, Arkansas for interviews and health and fitness trends.  Lastly, make your tax-deductible donation to Eating as an Act of Worship Ministries at www.eatingasanactofworshipministries.org!
