The internet is in a frenzy and uproar as rumors circulate about a potential breakup of the Hip Hop icon group The Migos. The speculation started on May 18th when an Instagram subscriber noticed that Cardi B and Offset had unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff. In the past, we found out about breakups in a group once members didn’t show up to scheduled performances. These days as social media has become a universal platform, the signs of an imminent breakup can easily start with something as simple as an unfollow.
Quavo was recently spotted at the LAX airport and asked a question about was the group breaking up? The Grammy award-winning artist didn’t put out the fire, instead, he chose to promote his new track with another group member Takeoff titled Hotel Lobby. The duo has taken on the name Unc and Phew for the project as a symbol of their family ties together. A multitude of people are heartbroken and devastated by the news of the likely disbandment of the close-knit group.
What makes these rumors even more believable is that Quavo changed his Instagram bio handle to “HUNCHO 1/3rd Of Greatest Group In The World MIGOS.” All three members of The Migos are slated to perform at upcoming festivals including Governors Ball, Rolling Loud Toronto and Life Is Beautiful. Everyone has their fingers crossed to see how this plays out. Is this a ploy to sell more records or is this the end of one of the most long-standing influential groups of hip-hop?
