Articulated Insight â âNews, Race and Culture in the Information Ageâ

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU EQUIP TEENAGERS FROM UNDER-RESOURCED AREAS TO BECOME ROLE MODELS FOR THE KIDS IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD?
You build confidence. You give hope. You share love. You transform lives.
THE PROBLEM
ONE IN FOUR AMERICAN CHILDREN UNDER SIX ARE LIVING IN POVERTY.
Children in underserved communities are more likely to develop psychological disorders that last into adulthood, even after an improved financial situation. More than half are unprepared to start school, lacking physical health, emotional and behavioral competency, and appropriate math and reading skills.
77%
of youth from families in the top income quartile graduate college by 24.

9%
of youth from families in the lowest income quartile graduate college by 24.
OUR IMPACT
99% of New City Kids seniors graduate high school, matriculate into college, and are 10 times more likely to graduate college than the national average for low income students.
Our Mission
Loving kids for change to create a community of Spiritual, Leadership, Academic, and Musical development.
New City Kids offers faith-based, after-school programming for local youth from under-resourced communities. Children and teens actively engage in spiritual, leadership, academic, and musical development in a challenging and fun environment. Although youth living in under-resourced communities face many challenges, New City Kids is a safe place where they experience trust, value, leadership, collaboration and love. Our program is a platform where youth develop their skills, talents, and desires for a future exploding with hope. As our youth are challenged, supported and filled with the joy of being trusted leaders and role models in their community, they are set on a path of lifelong transformation.
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF IMPACT
The New City Kids journey began 30 years ago when our founders moved to New Jersey to begin a new church. Since then, dozens of talented, passionate people have joined this mission to serve youth in under-resourced communities.
