Congratulations to Mary Lamie, EVP of Multimodal Enterprises at Bi-State Development, for receiving the prestigious Transportation Club of St. Louis Lifetime Achievement Award

Recognition by Transportation Club of St. Louis celebrates decades of leadership advancing transportation, infrastructure investment and regional collaboration

[ST. LOUIS, MO/Sept. 9, 2026] Mary Lamie, Executive Vice President of Multimodal Enterprises for Bi-State Development and head of the St. Louis Regional Freightway, has been named the recipient of the Transportation Club of St. Louis Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the region’s highest honors recognizing an individual’s lasting impact on transportation, logistics and economic development. The award was presented at the Transportation Club of St. Louis’ 119th Annual Dinner on Aug. 27 at the Franklin of Soulard, where business and transportation leaders gathered to celebrate excellence in the industry.

The recognition reflects a career spanning more than three decades in transportation, engineering and economic development, including 22 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the past decade leading the St. Louis Regional Freightway.

As a professional engineer, Lamie rose through the ranks at IDOT to serve as Deputy Director of Highways and Region 5 Engineer, overseeing transportation infrastructure across 27 southern Illinois counties, 3,300 lane miles of state highways and 1,700 bridges. Among the most significant projects completed during her tenure was the delivery of the $690 million Interstate 70 Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge connecting Missouri and Illinois.

Since joining Bi-State Development in 2015, Lamie has led efforts to strengthen the St. Louis region’s position as one of North America’s premier multimodal freight hubs. Under her leadership, the St. Louis Regional Freightway has become a nationally recognized model for public-private collaboration, uniting leaders from all modes of transportation, manufacturers, economic development organizations, elected officials and transportation agencies around a shared vision for regional growth. At the Freightway’s helm, she has become the public face of many of the St. Louis region’s largest freight and infrastructure initiatives that have strengthened the region’s freight network.

Working with partners across Missouri and Illinois, Lamie helped establish the Freightway’s Priority Projects List, which today represents more than $9 billion in infrastructure investments designed to improve freight mobility and economic competitiveness. Mary has championed transformative projects on the list, working with partners to advocate for funding and advance them through the pipeline. As of May 2026, almost $3.8 billion in total funding had been secured and more than $581 million in projects on the list had been completed, including the rehabilitation of the Merchants Bridge, a critical freight rail crossing that more than doubled rail capacity between Missouri and Illinois. Construction is underway on projects totaling more than $1.6 billon, and given that 41% of the total project costs on the list are funded, additional projects will soon be advancing to construction.

Lamie has also played a leading role in elevating the St. Louis region’s national profile as a logistics and manufacturing center. She helped develop the “Ag Coast of America” brand, highlighting the region’s strategic role in moving agricultural products to domestic and global markets from a port district recognized as the most efficient inland port in the nation. She also supported the creation of the Freightway’s Featured Real Estate Sites program, an online resource used by brokers, developers and site selectors evaluating industrial development opportunities throughout the bi-state region.

Her commitment to collaboration extends to her role as the founder of FreightWeekSTL, which has grown into one of the nation’s premier freight and logistics conferences, bringing together industry leaders to discuss innovation, workforce development, infrastructure and supply chain trends. More recently, she helped launch the St. Louis Regional Aerospace and Aviation Task Force, applying the same collaborative approach to support growth in one of the region’s fastest-growing advanced manufacturing sectors.

“Her legacy can be measured in projects completed, investments attracted, jobs created and partnerships formed,” said Brad Reinhardt, board chair for the Transportation Club of St. Louis. “But perhaps most importantly, it can be seen in the countless people and organizations she has brought together in pursuit of a stronger future for our region.”

Throughout her career, Lamie has been recognized for building consensus among diverse stakeholders and creating partnerships that generate measurable results for communities throughout the region.

Accepting the award, Lamie took the opportunity to thank the Transportation Club for the honor and to thank Bi-State Development for its support of the St. Louis Regional Freightway, while also crediting the many partners, organizations and colleagues who contributed to the success of the projects and initiatives she has helped lead.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside talented partners, colleagues and friends who proved that the best transportation projects, and the best ideas, happen when people come together,” Lamie said. “While my name may be on this award, it really belongs to the many organizations, teams and leaders on both sides of the Mississippi who shared the same vision for making our region stronger. I’ve spent my career helping support infrastructure investment and freight opportunities, but the most rewarding part has been building relationships and partnerships that keep all of us moving forward. This may be a lifetime achievement award, but my GPS says I still have a lot more miles to go.”
