March is a fun month for college basketball fans, as teams are going head-to-head during March Madness. This year’s tournament has been exciting, and like always, it is full of surprises.

The women’s Sweet 16 is approaching, and some great teams have fought to get to this point. Teams like UConn, South Carolina and Texas are involved, and there are stars leading their teams to success. Those squads are contenders, and if they want to win, it will take strong performances from those stars to make it happen.

Some players are playing at a high level, and by the end of the tournament, one of them may be this year’s Most Outstanding Player. With that said, here are some players to keep an eye on.

1.) Madison Booker

Madison Booker is one of the biggest stars in women’s college basketball, and if there was any doubt, she silenced those talks in her team’s last game. Booker plays for Texas, and she had a huge game in their blowout win.

Booker had 40 points, and she also had eight rebounds and five assists. Texas defeated Oregon, and now the young star and her team are taking on Kentucky. Booker has a chance to have another strong game, and she can add to her excellent tournament run.

At this point, she is averaging 27.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals in this run. She is playing like the star she is, and in her team’s upcoming game is a chance to add to her legacy.

2.) Lauren Betts

Lauren Betts is playing well, and during this run, she is averaging 28.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, four assists, 1.5 steals and a block.

In her last game, she had 35 points, nine rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block. Before that, she had a 22-point double-double, and UCLA picked up a blowout win. UCLA defeated Oklahoma State in the second game, and now, Betts and her team will take on Minnesota. The Bruins are on a mission, and a big game from Betts can put them over the top.

3.) Azzi Fudd

Azzi Fudd is playing well in her senior season, and in UConn’s last game, she had 34 points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds. UConn beat Syracuse 98-45, and now, Fudd’s squad is facing North Carolina.

The UConn senior is averaging 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, three steals and a block. She had a quieter game scoring-wise in the first round, but she still contributed in different areas. She had seven points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Fudd and her teammates are looking to repeat, and if she plays well, they have a good chance.

4.) Joyce Edwards

South Carolina made the championship game last year, but UConn came out on top. This year, South Carolina wants to bounce back from that loss, and Joyce Edwards is leading the charge. She is averaging 25.0 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

Edwards had a double-double in South Carolina’s win over USC, as she had 23 points and 10 rebounds. South Carolina controlled that game, and now, the Gamecocks are facing Oklahoma. Edwards and her teammates are an exceptional defensive team, and while the competition is getting tougher, their defense can take them far.

5.) Olivia Miles

Olivia Miles is a senior, and she is having an exceptional tournament run. She kicked it off with a triple-double against UC San Diego, and in the next game, she had 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. TCU defeated Washington in an overtime game, and now the journey continues with a game against Virginia. Miles is an all-around player, and her performance could put her team over the top.

There are so many stars in the tournament, and they are doing whatever it takes to lead their teams to victory.
