This is probably the most anticipated album of the year – an album dedicated to his late mother, Donda, who unfortunately died aged 58 in 2007 following post-operation complications.
It, as many of Kanye’s albums, faced some delays. It was first set to be released on July 23rd, 2021, but was postponed for a second time.
Kanye did, however, hold a unique listening party at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The fans who could not make it to the event live-streamed and broke Apple’s record of most streams.
And understandably so; Kanye is a musical genius.
The listening party held on June 22nd saw Rick Ross, Khloe Kardashian, and even Kim Kardashian graced the event. And at one point, Kanye is reported to have paused the music, as he knelt and mourned the loss of his family in a very emotional scene.
As we all know, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in February, something that deeply hurt Kanye. But perhaps what made that listening party memorable was the fact that Kanye, for the most part, said nothing; he played the music and walked off.
Despite the eventful listening party, the album’s release was not forthcoming. Kanye was said to be finalizing the album. A third release date was announced, August 6th. A listening event would be held on Thursday, August 5th at 9 pm EST.
As a few hours leading up to the release, finally, Kanye has live-streamed the coming together of the final details that will complete the album on Apple music. The Livestream is on mute, but you get a glimpse of Kanye’s creative process.
As we countdown to the album’s release later tonight, fans are biting down on their nails. The July preview gave away some of the artists that are on the album.
These are the likes of Jay Z, Travis Scott, Roddy Ricch, Lil Durk, Don Toliver, Pusha T, Lil Baby, Baby Keem, and many more. All that is left now is to wait, and maybe the third time is a charm!
