It is true that we live in a very fast-paced world that constantly bombards us with information. Some of it is beneficial. Most of it is not. Sometimes you intentionally seek out data regarding a specific topic.  Conversely, facts, figures, and statistics, for example, are usually hurled at you without your consent or remote interest in the subject. Often, the news you get influences your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Current events have produced numerous examples of this truth manifesting in the lives of people all over the world.

It is overwhelming. Truthfully, you get so tired of the incessant barrage of unwanted bad news and needless information that you just want a break from it all. Who wants to read a very well-written book of nonfiction after looking at a computer screen all day? Who wants to watch a news program only to hear about how much more depraved humanity has become within the last 24 hours? Who wants to pick up a Bible and seek out God’s truth for their lives?

That is the point of it all. If you think about it, you will realize that it is mentally exhausting to meditate on all of the information you receive throughout the day, so you choose to avoid including more of it in your private time whenever possible. That includes reading the Word of God. Unfortunately, neglecting the study of God’s Word comes at a very high price, and the enemy knows it. Specifically, God said in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shalt be no priest to me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.” According to 1 Peter 2:9, if you are a believer in Christ, you are automatically a part of God’s royal priesthood. Consequently, Satan works hard to make God’s people ignore, and ultimately, forget God’s Word. It is a weapon his system has formed against the people of God.

Unfortunately, it has been effective. Most Christians know nothing about the sin of gluttony because it is not discussed at home, preached about at church, or read during private Bible study. As a result, an entire generation suffers from obesity and does not have a clue that it is sinning against the One True God. Likewise, people all over the world become entangled with eating disorders because they have not received spiritual instructions to take care of their bodies, which are the temples of the Holy Spirit, by eating and drinking for the glory of God ( 1 Corinthians 6:19, 10:31). Accordingly, this generation is paying a very high price for its ignorance. People are needlessly suffering and dying every day from preventable obesity related diseases and side effects of eating disorders instead of living abundant, healthy, prosperous lives as members of the Lord’s royal priesthood (John 10:10, 1 Peter 2:4-5).

The good news is God has promised that, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). Knowledge of God’s Word is true power that leads to freedom because “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). When you seek the truth of God’s Word, hear the truth of God’s Word, and accept the truth of God’s Word, the Holy Spirit can convict your heart and permanently renew your mind (Romans 12:2). A new mindset which focuses on God’s perspective about health and fitness is what you need to succeed.  If you are ready and willing to learn, purchase your copies of the Eating as an Act of Worship Workbook and the Eating as an Act of Worship Teacher’s Edition online today at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.com.
