Roy Ayersâ music is a rich blend of classic jazz, soulful melodies, and vibrant disco. At times, it transports you to a tranquil space filled with harmony and positive energy, evoking a sense of spiritual awakening or inviting you to dance with joyful abandon.
It was last summer when I finally added Ayers to my jazz playlist, because most of his music in my opinion was that peace and good vibes that I longed for. Critics called him a neo soul musician, but I always felt he was into jazz fusion as well,
Roy Ayers died yesterday at the age of 84, months before his 85th birthday. âEverybody Love the Sunshine,â man I think I was very young as my older relatives jammed this at parties and family outings. It had to be in the 80âs, even though I believe the song was released in the 70s. That is how his music was, timeless and could blend in with any generation.
