Celebrity actress Charlotte Kirk shares her inspiring journey to success and teases her upcoming film “Duchess” in an exclusive interview with DISCPlus.

Charlotte Kirk, an award-winning actress, writer, and producer, was born in South East London and has become a remarkable figure in the entertainment industry. Despite facing significant challenges growing up, including autism and dyslexia, Charlotte’s determination and passion for acting propelled her to success.

Reflecting on her early years, Charlotte stated, “It wasn’t easy. It’s always difficult growing up as a kid being different, on top of me having dyslexia as well. School life was difficult for me.” However, she found solace and a sense of belonging in drama classes. “I loved it. It came naturally to me,” she recalled. This newfound passion became her escape from the academic struggles she faced, and she knew she had found her calling.

At 19, Charlotte decided to leave her comfort zone and pursue her dreams in the United States. Following advice to seek better opportunities in the industry, she flew to New York and then moved to Los Angeles, where she has since thrived. Her love for British gangster movies inspired her to co-write and co-produce the upcoming action thriller “Duchess” with director Neil Marshall.

“Duchess,” set to be released on August 9 by Saban Films on digital and on-demand platforms, is a nod to Charlotte’s dedication and creativity. “It was inspired by a few films. Neil and I had done a few previous films like ‘The Reckoning’ and ‘The Lair,’ which were horror films, and we thought, wouldn’t it be cool to do a gangster movie?” Charlotte explained. The film, featuring a strong female gangster lead, was co-written in 2018 and filmed in 2022. “I’m just so proud of this movie,” she said. “It’s a gangster movie, but there’s a lot of action in it.”

What sets “Duchess” apart from other action movies is its depth and substance. “It’s different from most action movies that we see today with no real substance in them. This film is about love, betrayal, power, and family. It’s a real story with something to say,” Charlotte emphasized. The cast includes notable actors such as Sean Pertwee, Colm Meaney, Philip Winchester, and Stephanie Beacham.

Beyond “Duchess,” Charlotte stars in Marshall’s thriller “Compulsion,” set for release in early 2025, and portrays Nicole Brown Simpson in Joshua Newton’s true crime drama “The Juice.” Her extensive body of work includes collaborations with renowned actors like Michael Jai White, Bruce Willis, and Sandra Bullock.

When asked about her love for acting, Charlotte shared, “I love the curiosity when I’m becoming someone else, the curiosity in figuring out who this person is. Being in the moment.” Her greatest challenge, she admits, was “letting go and believing in myself.” Yet, her perseverance and self-belief have fueled her success.

Charlotte’s story is one of resilience. Reflecting on her journey, she hopes to be an inspiration for others on the autism spectrum. “Against all odds, I did it. I was an inspiration to people in my community with being autistic. I had a lot of naysayers, so I’m hoping to be an inspiration to people on the spectrum so they can say she did it and so can I. I can say I did it and I did it my way.”
