A.D. Drew joins athletic staff at Morehouse

Atlanta, GA |  Athletic Director Harold Ellis has added A.D. Drew to the athletic administration staff at Morehouse College.  A.D. Drew will serve as the Sports Marketing Manager.  He will also serve as the Sports Information Director for the athletic department.  He will be responsible for external marketing for the athletic department and the athletic website maintenance. Drew’s appointment became effective as of October 1, 2024.

Drew comes to Morehouse after serving as the Director of Athletic Communications at Thomas University, in Thomasville, GA, from 2023-2024.  In addition to handling sports information at Thomas, Drew managed the Night Hawks Sport Network, where he doubled the viewership.  Drew also managed all athletic social media platforms, ticket sales, managed game day operations, and was game administrator at athletic events.  Drew has been involved in athletics on the youth, scholastic, or collegiate level for two decades.

Drew is also an independent consultant in athletic communications, having worked events such as The Celebration Bowl, MEAC-SWAC Challenge, Black College World Series, SWAC Championship Game, multiple SIAC championship events, and Gulf South Conference events, in addition to regular season sports and events at every NCAA and NAIA level.  Drew has also completed athletic communications consulting work for institutions on NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NAIA levels.

Drew does work for the Black College Sports Network, where he has worked as a producer, director, and on-air talent.  Drew has provided either play-by-play or color analysis for the Orange-Blossom Classic, the Black College World Series, the GCAC (now HBCUAC) basketball tournament, SIAC Baseball, Softball, and Men’s Volleyball Championships, and regular season games for football, flag football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball.  Drew regularly hosts a podcast, the BCSN SportsWrap with Bryan and A.D., most Sundays on the BCSN.  Drew has also worked as a part-time disc jockey for Lincoln (MO) University.

Drew currently serves on the executive committee for Point Forward Sports Consulting (National Minority Basketball Tournament) and is a board member of the HBCU-Pro Sports Media Association.  Drew is a member of the College Sports Communicators.  In the past, Drew has served as the Director of Administration for the Black College World Series (2022).  Drew is the former Director of Parks & Recreation in Tuskegee, AL (2013-2018) and Turner County, GA (2019-2020), where he received multiple awards on the national and state levels.

Drew’s coaching experience includes a stint as an assistant girls’ basketball coach at Tift County (Tifton, GA) High School (2021-2023), where he helped lead the Blue Devils to two regional titles, Notasulga (Notasulga, AL) High School as an assistant girls’ basketball coach (2015-2018), where he helped lead them to a Final 16 appearance, an area championship, and an area runner-up title.  Drew twice was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Tuskegee University (2004-2006, 2009-2013), with those teams winning an SIAC Championship (2010), an SIAC regular season championship (2012), and an SIAC division championship (2013).  Drew has also served as a girl’s volleyball coach at Notasulga High School (2015-2017) and a baseball (2006-2008) and head soccer coach (2013-2014) at Booker T. Washington High School (Tuskegee, AL).

Drew is a native of St. Louis, MO.  Drew received his undergraduate degree (B.S. Accounting) from Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, FL, in 1996.  Drew earned his graduate degree (M.S. Agricultural Economics) from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL, in 2009.
