The 27th Annual Super Bowl Soulful Celebration aired last night Saturday, February 7th, on BET, delivering a powerful one-hour primetime event that blended music, faith, football, and culture into an unforgettable Super Bowl week moment. Premiering at 8 PM ET / 7C, the broadcast featured electrifying performances, emotional tributes, and appearances from some of the NFL’s most influential figures and music’s most commanding voices.

Portions of the San Francisco–themed production were taped at EMPIRE Studios, creating an intimate, cinematic backdrop that amplified many of the evening’s standout moments.

Hosted by NFL MVP and broadcaster Cam Newton, the celebration unfolded under the theme “Go Higher.” With his signature charisma, humor, and commanding presence, Newton guided viewers through an uplifting, story-driven evening that balanced inspiration with entertainment, seamlessly connecting faith, culture, and sport.

At the heart of the night was Randy Moss, honored with the Lifetime of Inspiration Award. His legendary career and lasting cultural impact were celebrated with a powerful tribute, including a special salute from Deion Sanders. Reflecting on the honor, Moss shared, “To see the names that have received this honor before me and I’m on the list, means a lot.”

The program also recognized Jameis Winston as the Faith in Action honoree, acknowledging his outspoken faith and commitment to community leadership, with a heartfelt tribute from Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson. Additional honors included the HBCU Player Spotlight award presented to Javon Hargrave, a South Carolina State University alumnus whose journey reflects perseverance and purpose. A Community Impact Spotlight, presented by Disneyland Resort, highlighted a surprise family experience featuring NFL veteran Keenan Allen.

Musically, the celebration unfolded as a vibrant journey. The night opened with a burst of Bay Area energy as LaRussell and Miles Minnick lit up the courtyard alongside the legendary South Carolina State University Marching 101, blending hip-hop, gospel, and HBCU pageantry into a joyful, high-energy opening.

Five-time GRAMMY® winner Lalah Hathaway followed with a soulful, vocally stunning performance, while gospel powerhouse Pastor Mike Jr. delivered an arena-level moment that ignited the stage. The momentum continued with a spirit-filled collaboration between Darrel Walls and PJ Morton, before gospel icon Hezekiah Walker brought a triumphant praise moment inspired by the Broadway hit Hell’s Kitchen.

The evening closed on a unifying high note as American Idol winner Jamal Roberts joined the NFL Players Choir for a stirring, full-voiced finale that sent viewers into Super Bowl weekend uplifted, inspired, and ready to go higher.

Now in its 27th year, the Super Bowl Soulful Celebration continues to stand as the NFL’s only sanctioned inspirational event during Super Bowl week. Founded in 1999 during Super Bowl XXXIII as the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, the event has remained a cornerstone for more than a quarter-century—bridging faith, football, and culture through music, testimony, and tribute.

The production was led by Founder and Executive Producer Melanie Few, alongside Executive Producer Valarie Benning Thompson, Music Director and Producer Adam Blackstone, and Director Anthony Rose, with strategic partners including Disney and NFL Charities.

The 2026 broadcast marked a unique presentation, allowing viewers to experience the full celebration together in its entirety—solidifying the Super Bowl Soulful Celebration as a defining moment of purpose, gratitude, and cultural pride during Super Bowl week.
