13th Ward of St. Louis: Legislative Wins and Community Resilience in 2025
As we bid farewell to 2025 and step into 2026, itās time to reflect on the accomplishments and challenges of the past year in the 13th Ward of St. Louis. From legislative wins to community-building events, the year was marked by resilience, collaboration, and hope for a brighter future. Letās take a closer look at the highlights and what lies ahead for our ward.
Legislative Accomplishments in 2025
The 13th Ward saw significant progress in legislation, thanks to the efforts of Alderwoman Pam Boyd and the Board of Aldermen in St. Louis. Key ordinances sponsored or co-sponsored included:
- Earnings Tax Bill: Ensuring financial stability for the city.
- Updated Forestry Division Regulations: Enhancing urban greenery management.
- Thirteenth Ward Liquor Control: Promoting responsible business practices.
- Tornado Relief Funds: Allocating interest funds to support tornado victims.
- Opioid Settlement Agreement: Addressing the ongoing opioid crisis.
- Health Insurance Portability: Improving access to healthcare.
These legislative efforts reflect a commitment to safety, public health, and community well-being.
Community Highlights and Challenges
Empowering Residents
- Arlington Grove Resident Council: The creation of this council ensures that residentsā voices are heard. The first official meeting is set for January 2026.
- Martin Luther King Business Association West: This new association hosted its inaugural Thanksgiving ābuild a bagā event, benefiting 100 residents in Hamilton Heights and Wells Goodfellow.
Events That Brought Us Together
- Seniors Event: The āBoots on the Groundā event for residents 55+ was a resounding success, thanks to DaCity Event Center in Baden.
- 13th Ward Christmas Party: Over 100 attendees celebrated the season at the Friendly Senior Community Center, with additional ābuild a bagā events across multiple neighborhoods.
Clean-Up Initiatives
The Neighborhood Improvement Specialist (NIS) Team and legislative staff coordinated 14 clean-up events, fostering pride and cleanliness in our ward.
Thank You to Our Partners
The success of these initiatives wouldnāt have been possible without the support of our partners, including Crown Mart, Gas Mart, Service International, Midwest Warriors, and many others. Their contributions have been invaluable in uplifting the 13th Ward.

Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move into 2026, the focus remains on promoting investment in the ward, fostering community engagement, and addressing ongoing challenges like tornado recovery. The first 13th Ward Town Hall of the year will be held this Saturday, providing an opportunity for residents to share their ideas and concerns.
Resident Spotlight: A Story of Resilience
One of the most heartwarming stories from our community comes from a 13th Ward resident who shared her journey of perseverance. In the 1980s, she faced a high-risk pregnancy and months of bed rest, but her daughter, born three months premature, defied the odds. Today, that daughter is a nurse caring for premature babies, a testament to the strength and support of our community.
Hope for the Future
The 13th Ward of St. Louis has shown incredible resilience and unity in 2025. With continued collaboration between residents, the Board of Aldermen, and community partners, 2026 promises to be a year of growth and progress. Letās work together to make our ward a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant place to live.
