Interested in studying all aspects of Ghana’s rich history, art, culture, food and business, while participating in community service opportunities for three weeks during the first summer session of 2023? You can earn six hours of 3000-level credit. Come learn more about our faculty-led Ghana Study Abroad Program.
The African and African American Studies program offers a biennial study abroad summer program. As our primary study abroad opportunity, students gain six hours of course credit while experiencing Ghana through cultural immersion for three weeks in the summer. As a U of A faculty-led study abroad, this experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of the classroom brought to life. In 2018, students traveled to Ghana. The next opportunity is in June 2023.
Students who major or minor in African and African American studies are eligible to apply for the study abroad scholarship.
There will be an information meeting with one of the program’s instructors, associate professor Caree Banton, director of the African and African American Studies Program. Come to Memorial Hall 230 at noon Friday, Oct. 21. Have some pizza and ask questions about this wonderful opportunity.
If you can’t make this meeting, no worries; there will be more in the future, or you may contact Banton directly if interested — email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 479 575 4086.
