The spooky season was this weekend upon us and seeing that last year’s Halloween season was more on the tamer side, thanks to Covid-19, people showed up with a vengeance this year.
With most costumes drawing their inspiration from pop culture, Netflix’s Korean drama Squid Game, Addams Family and Baby Yoda. That is not to say that celebrities did not stray from these. Celebrities, this year, took to their social media to reveal their Halloween costumes, and fans are here for it.
- Mindy Kaling
“So, I live for Halloween costumes,” Mindy Kaling wrote on Instagram. The 42-year-old actor posted a series of photographs on Saturday ahead of the Halloween festivities.
“This year I decided to dress as a few female comedy legends in some of their iconic lewks. Can you guess who I am?” she wrote.
Mindy Kaling pulled out all the stops by channeling Amber Ruffin, Ali Wong, Julia Louis— Dreyfus, Issa Rae, and Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
The comedians being very flattered, took to Kaling’s comment section to thank her.
“I don’t think you understand! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾,” Rae commented, and Reese Witherspoon, who is known for playing Woods, said, “Amber / Ali / Issa / JLD / MEEEEEEEEEEE?!?! 😍.”
- Hailey Bieber
Every year the iconic pop singer, Britney Spears, inspires thousands of Halloween costumes. And as much as that is true, no one has ever paid homage to the star as Hailey Bieber did this weekend.
“Happy Halloweekend! The first concert I ever went to was the queen @britneyspears and I’ve been shook ever since,” Hailey explained on her Instagram.
The 24-year-old shared multiple Britney Spears inspired Halloween costumes, including Spears’ School girl outfit in “…Baby One More Time” 1998 music, the legendary red jumpsuit from the 2000 hit “Oops! Did It Again”, the steamy outfit from the 2001 “Slave 4 U” and Spears’ famous 1999 Rolling Stone cover.
- BLACKPINK’s Lisa
This Halloween has seen a great number of people use the Squid Game as an inspiration for their Halloween outfits.
24-year-old Lisa was no exception, turning into Squid Game’s—Red light, Green Light Doll. And boy, she did not disappoint.
She had on her bright yellow shirt with a matching orange skater dress skirt, held her hair in two ponytails, knee-high white socks, and pulling the whole outfit together were black shoes.
- Harry Styles
There were costumes, and then there were COSTUMES, Halloween 2021! Pop singer Harry Styles took a page from the Wizard of OZ and dressed as Dorothy for his “Love on Tour” Halloween concert.
Harry Style showed up at New York’s Madison Square Garden for a fourth sold-out October show, wearing the Dorothy assemble—the iconic checkered blue dress, white-collar, bow at the front, red stockings, and ruby red shoes.
The 33-year-old hitmaker of “Good as hell” is a self-confessed “Baby Yoda” fan.
“I have so many friggen’ Baby Yoda’s. I got one the size of me…. I don’t know who’s sending it at this point but I’m grateful,” she told “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” in August.
She hit the Hollywood Boulevard streets with green body art, large green ears peeking through her blonde wig, and a floor-length tan cloak completing the look—taking pictures with her fans and tourists.
- Maya Jama
While hosting her Halloween party, the presenter looked flaming hot in her Medusa costume.
Jama was rocking a gold bra, her ivory skirt giving glimpses of matching underwear, a snake crown was on her head which had a blonde wig, and gold makeup on her face scaled to match the snakes on her crown. And let’s not forget the eye-catching blue contacts.
- Cardi B
For Halloween, Cardi B dressed as the ADDAM’s family matriarch—Morticia Addams. Her outfit, designed by fashion designer Natalia Fedner, was a black mesh ensemble—black bikini bottom accentuating her curves. Her makeup as well channeled the gothic vibe that the matriarch is known for—her hair jet black.
