During the preliminary hearing LAPD Det. Ryan Stogner painted a vivid picture of what he believes happened on the June 2020 incident, piecing the events of that day using interviews he had with Meghan.

Earlier this year Tory Lanez’s assault charges were scheduled to be heard on December 14 after he failed to reach a plea deal in the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

According to Stogner, the two were driving from a party held by Kylie Jenner in the Hollywood Hills, along with Lanez’ bodyguard and a friend of Stallion’s. According to Stogner, an altercation erupted, and Stallion asked to be let out of the car. She later claimed police that Lanez shot at her as she walked away from the vehicle.

According to Rollingstone, an intoxicated Tory Lanez allegedly yelled, “Dance, bitch!” before shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during a roadside altercation following a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house last year.

“As she exited the vehicle, she heard Mr. Peterson yelling obscenities at her, and he stated, ‘Dance, bitch!’ And he then began firing a weapon at her,” Stogner said during the preliminary hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

As Meghan walked away, Lanez withdrew a semiautomatic and shot at her.

“(Megan) observed Mr. Peterson holding a firearm and then she observed him start to shoot,” Los Angeles Police detective Ryan Stogner testified Tuesday, basing his account on interviews with Megan (real name: Megan Pete). He said Megan described Peterson as “half in, half out,” on the step board of the vehicle, when he allegedly fired, Stogner said

Megan immediately felt pain to her feet, observed blood, fell to the ground, and then crawled to an adjacent driveway of a residence…She described her injuries as bleeding profusely,” he testified

“Megan stated the defendant apologized for doing it and offered her money and begged her to please not say anything and made a reference to the fact he was already on probation and he begged her not to say anything,” Stogner testified.

According to Stogner, Stallion was also hesitant to report the shooting because she was afraid that responding authorities would use force against Lanez if they came into a car full of Black men and women in possession of a semiautomatic. And she initially told the officers that she stepped on broken glass during the party.

“She was afraid that there had been recent police shootings, and she described her concern for the police possibly shooting the defendant since he had just committed a shooting,” Stogner said Tuesday.

Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion’s feet after a fight in Hollywood last summer, had his assault charges upheld by a Los Angeles County judge on Tuesday.

Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, shook his head several times during the 90-minute preliminary hearing, and even ended up shouting at a detective at one point before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Borjon upheld the assault and weapons possession charges against him..

“How about you tell me what I was apologizing for, bro? That don’t make no sense,” he shouted before being asked to be quiet by his attorney, Shawn Holley. During the preliminary hearing Lanez’s defense lawyer poked holes into Meghan’s story asking, “You never asked Megan how much she had to drink that day, did you?”

To which Stogner answered, “Not specifically, no.”

The trial is scheduled to continue January 13 2022 and if convicted, Tory Lanez faces an upward jail term of 22 years.
