The Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought us several hits over the years. However, despite dropping numerous hits over the last decade, there are none that have left such a lasting impact as Black Panther. From the predominantly black cast and stunning visuals to the intricate storyline and start-studded cast, the title was destined for greatness. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther has been listed as one of the best Marvel superhero movies of all time
Marvel Phase 4
With Black Panther raking in more than 1.34 billion dollars worldwide, it was almost a given that a sequel would get the green light. Marvel Phase 4 movies have a lot of chapters, and of the 2022 fall roster, Black Panther 2 is one of the most anticipated. There have been a lot of setbacks with the movie, especially with the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman in late 2020. Letitia Wright’s on-set injury was another roadblock that put the brakes on production. Thankfully, Black Panther will live on in Wakanda Forever, which is set to hit the big screen in November of 2022.
There are very few sequels that are able to garner as much fanfare as the original, mainly due to creative setbacks. Disney was able to overcome part of this issue by keeping Coogler on as the director for Wakanda Forever. Most of Black Panther was solely Coogler’s creative vision and he will bring those same thoughts and emotions to the table for Wakanda forever. This will ensure that there is creative continuity between the two films.
Delve Into The World of Wakanda
While most of the film is being kept under wraps, one thing we know for sure is that there will be a deeper exploration into the “incomparable world of Wakanda”. We were introduced to an amazing cast in the first film, and the second is slated to develop these characters even further.
The beloved king may be missing, but Shuri, his younger sister, is set to take his place as protector of the realm. It’s a bonus that the comics follow a similar arc, but there is still much more to be learned along the way.
Chadwick Boseman’s shoes can never be filled, but thankfully, his supporting cast is set to return in his steed. Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda, and Letitia Wright as Shuri are just a few of the amazing actors reprising their roles. Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia are also part of the Wakanda Forever cast. Agent Everett K. Ross is set to be played by Martin Freeman and new faces Tenoch Huerta as Namor as well as Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams ensure that the sequel will do more than just live up to the hype of the first film.
Story Line & Underwater Wars
Much of the storyline is being kept under wraps, but we do have some basic information to work with. Queen Ramonda and her court is working to protect their nation following the death of their king. War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross work together with the other heroes to create a
new way forward for the kingdom. According to posters released at the Comicon this year, the battle will be on with the underwater nation next door to Wakanda. The stunning visuals in the trailers and storyboards released so far show underwater cities, harrowing armies, and plenty of explosions that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Is the Judgment of Atlantis final, or will Wakanda prevail?
Catch Your Flight To Wakanda This Fall
With a funeral at the start of the movie, fans will have a chance to honor the king, and Chadwick before diving head-first into a new adventure. The sequel will introduce you to Namor, who is half Tialocan and half mutant. Since fighting in the Spanish Inquisition, he has been hiding in the sea, or rather in Atlantis. The search for Vibranium awakens the underwater society and also damages the kingdom in the process. From there, the fight is on to restore the underwater kingdom and keep Atlantis from destroying Wakanda.
That leaves us wondering who will access the Ancestral Plane and who will be crowned king. But, you will have to watch the movie to find out! Now that you are up to date on what to expect from this highly anticipated sequel, all you need to do is mark your calendars. Wakanda Forever is set to hit theater’s November 11, 2022.
