Actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killing the Award-winning cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico film set for the movie Rust,

The results were deadly: The film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed, and its director, Joel Souza, 48, was injured, said Juan Rios, a spokesman for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.The shooting took place at around 1:50 p.m. local time Thursday on the set of “Rust,” Mr. Rios said.

Mr. Rios said Thursday that the shooting at Bonanza Creek Ranch, in Santa Fe County, happened in the middle of a scene that was either being rehearsed or filmed. He said the sheriff’s office was interviewing people on the set to determine how the two victims had been shot.

Sheriff’s investigators are still investigating what happened.

‘This investigation remains open and active,’ [Juan Rios, a spokesman for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office] said. “No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.'” – Albuquerque Journal
