Week 1 is in the books, and just like that, the second week of NFL action is underway. The season started off with some good games, and so let’s get to who will win and lose this week.
Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins (Dolphins -2.5) – The Buffalo Bills started their season off with a win over the Arizona Cardinals. They beat Arizona 34-28. The Bills have a tougher challenge this week, as they face the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins won a close game over their fellow Florida team in the Jacksonville Jaguars. They beat the Jaguars 20-17. Like their win over Jacksonville, Miami will be home for their matchup against the Bills. The Dolphins were a tough team to beat at home last season, as they went 7-2 in home games. They will look to keep that trend going, and come away with a win.
Prediction: The Dolphins take it
San Francisco 49ers vs Minnesota Vikings (49ers -6) – The San Francisco 49ers started their season off with a nice win over the New York Jets. They beat the Jets 32-19. The 49ers are on the road this week, as they take on the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings pulled off an impressive win over the New York Giants, as they beat them 28-6. They got that win on the road but are back on their home turf for this game against the runner up of Super Bowl LVIII. As of right now, running back Christian McCaffrey is a “long shot” to play in this game as he continues to deal with a calf injury and Achilles tendinitis. However, the 49ers can still get the win.
Prediction: The 49ers take it
Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriots (Seahawks -3.5) – The Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos in their first game of the season, which marks their second straight win against Denver in their history of playing them. The Seahawks beat the Broncos 26-20, and back in 2022, they beat them 17-16. The Seahawks are on the road this week, as they face the New England Patriots. The Patriots had a nice win over the Cincinnati Bengals, as they beat them 16-10. Neither Jacoby Brissett or Joe Burrow threw touchdowns for their teams, but Rhamondre Stevenson had a rushing touchdown for New England and Zack Moss scored for Cincinnati. The Patriots are home this time around, and while their Week 1 win will be a momentum boost, Seattle should take this game.
Prediction: The Seahawks win
New York Giants vs Washington Commanders (Giants -1.5) – The New York Giants started their season off with the loss to Minnesota. They have a chance to bounce back from that loss, as they take on the Washington Commanders. The Commanders loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their first game, as Tampa Bay beat them 37-20. The Commanders had a rough season last year, and this season may not be much different. This game would be a chance for the Giants (who also had a high pick in the 2024 draft after going 6-11) to get a win.
Prediction: The Giants win
Los Angeles Chargers vs Carolina Panthers (Chargers -6) – The Los Angeles Chargers beat the Las Vegas Raiders in their first game. They beat the Raiders 22-10. Now, the Chargers will be traveling to North Carolina to face the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers suffered a big loss in their first game, as they lost to the New Orleans Saints 47-10. Bryce Young threw two interceptions in this game, and overall, it was a difficult game for Carolina. Carolina will be home for this game, but last season, they went 2-6 at home. This is better than their 0-9 record on the road, but it still shows Carolina can lose at home. The Chargers have a chance to pick up another win here.
Prediction: The Chargers win
New Orleans Saints vs Dallas Cowboys (Cowboys -6.5) – The New Orleans Saints won big in their last game. As mentioned above, they defeated the Panthers and did so in dominant fashion. This week, they are on the road and face the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys beat the Cleveland Browns in a game the Cowboys controlled from beginning to end. The Cowboys were a decent team on the road last season as they went 4-5 on the road (one game below .500). They were stellar at home as they went 8-0. The Cowboys are a strong team at home, and should take this.
Prediction: The Cowboys win
Indianapolis Colts vs Green Bay Packers (Colts -3) – The Indianapolis Colts lost a close game as the Houston Texans beat them 29-27. Green Bay lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, as the Eagles won 34-29. The Packers were a solid team at home last season with a home record of 5-3. If they continue to play well at home, they can get this win. However, this could be a good game.
Prediction: The Packers win
Cleveland Browns vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Jaguars -3) – The Cleveland Browns had a rough start to their season with their loss to the Cowboys. The Browns also lost David Njoku to an ankle injury. Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson did not have a great showing, and this week could be a chance to get back on track. The Jacksonville Jaguars lost a close one last week but could get their first win of the season at home. The Jaguars could take this game.
Prediction: The Jaguars win
New York Jets vs Tennessee Titans (Jets -3.5) – The New York Jets lost to the 49ers last week, and are on the road as they take on the Tennessee Titans. The Titans lost to the Chicago Bears last week despite a rough showing from Chicago’s rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. The Titans are home, where they were a decent team last season despite their 6-11 record. They will compete in this game, but the Jets could get the road win.
Prediction: The Jets win
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions (Lions -7.5) – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up a good win over the Commanders last week, and have a bit of a tougher challenge this week. The Lions are fresh off of their overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions can build some momentum after that impressive win and beat Tampa Bay in a decent game.
Prediction: The Lions take it
Las Vegas Raiders vs Baltimore Ravens ( Ravens -8.5) – The Las Vegas Raiders started their season with a loss to the Chargers. The Ravens also started their season with a loss, as they faced the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that beat them in last year’s playoffs. Baltimore lost to the Chiefs 27-20, and chances are they will look to bounce back from that game.
Prediction: The Raves take it
Los Angeles Rams vs Arizona Cardinals (Cardinals -1.5) – The Los Angeles Rams lost in overtime to Detroit, but are headed to Arizona to face the Cardinals. The Cardinals lost to the Bills in their first game, but put up a fight. The Rams will be without a key player as receiver Puka Nacua is expected to miss at least four games due to a knee injury. This will impact the Rams, and could be a factor in Arizona getting a win.
Prediction: The Cardinals win
Cincinnati Bengals vs Kansas City Chiefs (Chiefs -5.5) – The Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Patriots in the first week, and this week is a bigger challenge. They take on the defending champions, who started their season off with a good win over Baltimore. The Chiefs are ready to take on all challengers, and this week, they should have no problems getting a win.
Prediction: The Chiefs take it
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos (Steelers -2.5) – The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Atlanta Falcons on the road last week, with an 18-10 win. The Steelers are on the road again this week, and they take on the Broncos. The Steelrs defense took care of business last week, and should give Broncos quarterback Bo Nix trouble. The Steelers are still figuring out their quarterback situation, but right now, Justin Fields will be their starter as Russell Wilson deals with his calf injury. Wilson played for Denver before he joined the Steelers for the veteran minimum. Wilson could have had a chance to get some revenge on the Broncos, but that will not happen. But the Steelers can take it.
Prediction: The Steelers take it
Chicago Bears vs Houston Texans (Texans -6) – The Chicago Bears won their first game of the season with a win over the Titans. This week is a chance for Caleb Williams to perform better, as he takes on another young quarterback who is making waves in the league. C.J. Stroud had a strong showing in Houston’s first game, and picked up where he left off last year. The Texans pulled off a very close win over the Colts, and in their first home game of the season, they can get another win.
Prediction: The Texans take it
Atlanta Falcons vs Philadelphia Eagles (Eagles -6.5) – The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Steelers in their first game and this week, they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles beat the Packers last week. In this Monday night matchup in which will be the first time they have played since 2021, the Eagles should win.
Prediction: The Eagles win
