In 2012, the jersey of Robert Griffin III was the offensive rookie of the year, and had the bestselling jersey in the entire NFL. After 20 years of a search for a Franchise Quarterback, Washington thought they had their man.

After giving up several draft picks, and sending them to the then St Louis Rams for the 2nd pick of the 2012 draft. Washington decided to grab Heisman award-winning Robert Griffin III.  Griffin dazzled in year one and helped Washington win the NFC East.

Griffin hurt his knee, after tearing ligaments, in Washington’s home playoff loss against the Seattle Seahawks. Griffin was never the same again after his injury.

After four short years Griffin was released by Washington, subsequently injuries and ineffectiveness, lead to him now being an analyst with ESPN.

Washington over the past several years has been embroiled in controversy due to allegations of sexual harassment and misbehavior. As well as, human resources lack of reporting structures, to collect data, and to respond to complaints.

Dozens of women came forward with allegations and the NFL launched an investigation via attorney Beth Wilkinson. After months, and lots of data being combed over and lots of employees and former employees being interviewed, Wilkinson wrote a report.

In which the NFL has tried everything in its power to bury.  Congress implored the NFL to release the report and its findings, and the league has been steadfast in its defense of keeping the investigation under wraps.

Now Griffin is taking his four years of experience playing in the organization and is using it to write a tell all book. RG3 announced the book over social and is calling it ‘Surviving Washington.’

In Griffin’s video he gives a summary of what the book will cover, “I’m going to tell you the truth about what happened in that playoff game in 2012 against Seattle. I’m going to detail the medical mismanagement that I received during my time in Washington.”

Griffin got more specific about the details saying, “I’m going to open your eyes to the sexual harassment that permeated the walls of that building and give you a deep dive into a power struggle between one of the most powerful coaches in all of sports and an owner that many of you want gone.”

The book is still having the finishing touches put on it as it’s expected release is in 2022. It will mark the 10-year anniversary of RDlll fantastic rookie season in 2012.

Can RGlll do what Congress couldn’t, what the NFLPA couldn’t, and what the vocal victims of harassment who petitioned the NFL to release the documents, in outing the details of the misbehavior in Ashburn?  Guess we will have to wait and find out.
