Mutombo also chats about the many humanitarian efforts he has been led to initiate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. For example, in 1997 the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation oversaw the construction of a $29 million general hospital named after his mother, the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital, that has treated more than 700,000 men, women and children.
