Have you ever seen something that was in total disarray and felt overwhelmed just looking at the magnitude of the mess in front of you? For example, a major construction project on the interstate often results in detours because people do not want to navigate the narrowed roadways and strange twists and turns that result as the once familiar highway resembles the landscape of a war torn country. On the other hand, you may have a room in your home designated to hold or to hide all the things you do not want your invited guests to see, and the thought of cleaning it induces a headache. Those same feelings occur when you have to clean up a messy area of your life, including the mess you have made of your health and fitness.

As we do with complicated construction projects on roadways, many people avoid dealing with their very obvious issue with weight and eating disorders. For instance, those who are overweight often choose what appears to be the path of least resistance and simply ignore the extra pounds, thickening waistline, and larger clothe sizes until it is too late. Then a bad situation becomes even worse.  Instead of confronting the weight loss problem when it was the only major issue, now you not only have to learn to eat right and exercise, but you also have to learn to prick your finger to test your blood sugar levels and give yourself insulin injections.

The old saying that a stitch in time saves nine (9) is true. If you take a deep breath and begin to bring order to your disorderly junk room, you will eventually find a place for everything, clean the area, and completely remove from your life a minor issue that was bothering you. All you will have to do is maintain the room instead of cleaning it from top to bottom again. Those same principles apply to health and fitness. Adopt a healthy lifestyle now through Christ, and when you lose the weight and conquer the eating disorder, your only issue is minor maintenance instead of major surgery due to a heart attack, therapy to learn to walk again after a stroke, dialysis due to kidney failure caused by hypertension, or recovery from a suicide attempt.

In other words, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these other things will be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). In order to clean up the mess you have made of your body with the weight you have gained or eating disorder you are ensnared with, you must first get the only stain remover that eradicates sin in your life, and that is the Blood of Jesus. Repent from committing the sins of gluttony, making idols of your stomach and food, and failing to otherwise take care of your body by eating and drinking for the glory of God, then the Lord will empower you to clean up the mess you have made in this area of your life.  If you are truly ready to shine the Light of God’s divine order on the chaos (1 Corinthians 14:40), of your health and fitness, purchase your copies of the Eating as an Act of Worship Workbook and the Eating as an Act of Worship Teacher’s Edition online today at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.com.
