Grammy-nominated Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is set to take center stage at the inaugural Midwest Cultural Fest, headlining a stellar lineup of international and Haitian artists. The picturesque Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park will come alive on Saturday, May 4, 2024, as the Midwest celebrates its rich cultural diversity in an event formerly known as the Haitian Flag Day Festival.  The Haitian Association of Indiana (HAI), with 15 years of experience organizing this cultural extravaganza, has joined forces with Live Nation, the world’s largest entertainment company, to co-produce the Midwest Cultural Fest. 

This collaboration aims to elevate the event to an international spectacle, showcasing the best of music, art, and food from around the world. Moise Duge, the Executive Director, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Our vision is to celebrate diversity and unity, creating a unique, inclusive festival that highlights the best of music, art, and food from around the world. It’s more than a festival; it’s a movement to bring the world closer, right here in the Midwest.”  In addition to Live Nation, HAI has partnered with renowned event promoters such as TashaPromo, Team509 Production, and Island Midfest Indy Promo, ensuring that the Midwest Cultural Fest becomes a globally acclaimed event known for its creativity and professionalism. The festival promises a vibrant fusion of musical styles, including Konpa, Raboday, Afrobeats, Hip Hop, and Latino sounds. Alongside Ayra Starr, the lineup features an array of talented artists like DJ Stakz, Rocksteady, Osocity, Jason Panton, Kanis, DJ Bullet, DJ Taleb, DJ Frankie Mix a lot, and Top Feelin. 

Attendees can anticipate an immersive experience, not only with captivating performances but also through the exploration of international cuisine and arts & crafts exhibits.  Ayra Starr, fresh from her first Grammy nomination, is poised to bring her unique blend of Afrobeats to the festival. Reflecting on the significance of the new Grammy category, she expressed, “African music has been it and has been popping for such a long time. Afrobeats has been taking over the world. I feel like this is very validating for everyone who put effort into this.”
