“The book sits on my kitchen counter. Last year was tough for me,” says Sharon Timmons, real estate agent in Minneapolis. “When I open the book, it unfolds to the right page and message for the time in my life,” she says.

“Words to the Wise” began as one-sentence statements of hope, according to Bell, an award-winning Midwest Broadcaster. Bell said he has been sharing “Words” to his radio audiences for the last 25 years. “The intent is to speak encouragement to listeners regardless of issues being faced that day,” Bell said.  Later, Bell expanded and is sharing “Words to the Wise” on social media. Now, the Words are available in his new book. “We really need words of encouragement in today’s world,” he said.

While there are 366 statements, the messages are not necessarily meant to be read by rote each day of the week like typical devotionals, Bell said. The radio host encourages his readers to open the book and, “be fed by the wisdom of the thought on any of the landing pages.“ The idea is for the inspiration of the words to feed your mind, body, and spirit. If they find a place in the reader then my goal has been accomplished,“ he said.
