Practice What is Preached

Ann Wooten-Taylor

The Bible says faith without works is dead. That principle applies to every aspect of your Christian life, including learning to eat and drink for the glory of God. Read today’s article to learn how to put your faith into action as you implement your health and fitness plan through Christ!

Eating as an Act of Worship Ministries often receives e-mails, FB messages, and other inquiries about weight loss and eating disorders, such as what diet plans to choose and suggestions about food to eat or abstain from.  The answer is always the same.  EAW Ministries does not advocate one diet plan over another except to say that fad diets, liquid diets, miracle pills, and other drastic measures should be avoided entirely.  There are several reasons why we do not tell people what to eat to be healthy.  First and foremost, God commands that we do not.  1 Timothy 4:1-5 says that teaching others to abstain from eating certain foods for spiritual purposes is to instruct them in the doctrines of demonic and deceiving spirits.

Second, it is our assignment to teach you the biblical principles so that the Holy Spirit can renew your mind, which is where true change takes place.  Although we do not give instructions on what to eat, we do teach participants how to eat as an act of worship.  However, this does not occur until nearly the end of the twelve (12) week course because you must first learn why you should eat as an act of worship in order to permanently change your unhealthy lifestyle.  Otherwise, it would be just another fad diet that only works for a moment, if at all, because the root of your health and fitness problem has not been alleviated.

Lastly, we do not tell people what diet, weight loss program, or health and fitness plan to follow because each person is unique.  Consequently, there is no one size fits all diet plan.  You must pray to the One who fearfully and wonderfully made you to direct you to the plan that is right for you.  The various recipes and diet plans that we refer our followers to on social media are intended to give you a starting point as you learn about what is available.  As you seek God’s will, trust that He will provide what you are praying for, then do your part!  If you do not know what that means, let me explain.

Your part is to put into practice what God’s Word teaches about your body, dieting, exercising, and maintaining a healthy body by eating and drinking for His glory as you follow the health and fitness plan He has revealed to you.  By doing so, you prove your love and devotion to Him by being obedient to His commands (John 14:21).  When you honor God with your body in this way, He does His part by opening the door to permanent and sustained weight loss, freedom from eating disorders, increased health, and better physical fitness.  Choose to do your part today and walk through the door that leads to the Promised Land of Healthy and Fit for Life!
