Press release from ITSMF for immediate release

ATLANTA, August 24, 2021 – The Board of Directors of Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) is pleased to announce it has selected Johanna R. Jones as ITSMF’s new President and CEO. Johanna brings to the organization more than 20 years of nonprofit executive leadership experience and excels in the areas of fundraising, innovative partnerships, and workforce development program design.

“After an extensive nationwide executive search, we are excited to fill our highest leadership position with someone of Johanna’s caliber,” said Michael Buckham-White, ITSMF Board Chair. “She brings a wealth of proven experience to this role—advancing the mission and visibility of several nonprofit organizations, nurturing effective partnerships and creating results-oriented marketing strategies that drive business development and other goals. We are delighted to welcome Johanna and look forward to her leadership as we collaboratively guide ITSMF into its next chapter.”

“I am thrilled to begin my leadership tenure of such an influential and vital organization,” said Johanna R. Jones, newly appointed ITSMF President and CEO. “ITSMF has made tremendous progress toward the development and advancement of Black professionals in technology fields and I’m eager to use my experience and strengths in inventive ways to expand organizational growth and impact.”

Johanna’s considerable experience strongly complements the work she will do at ITSMF. During her tenure as the Director of Workforce Development and Strategic Partnerships at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, she developed comprehensive regional strategies around workforce development programs for Black/African-American individuals and designed an IT career pathway for non-traditional students. As Vice President of Development and Advancement at Places for People, Johanna led the organization’s efforts to raise $7 million to build a new community health center.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Jackson State University and holds a Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law. Johanna has served on several nonprofit boards and remains active in several charitable entities such as Jack and Jill of America and the Jabberwock Rites of Passage Program for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. St. Louis Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter. Opportunities for Johanna to meet the membership, corporate partners and other key stakeholders will be planned. In the meantime, she can be reached at president@itsmfleaders.org.

About Information Technology Senior Management Forum

Since 1996, Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) has been dedicated to increasing the representation of Black professionals at senior levels in technology to impact organizational innovation and growth. We do this by developing and nurturing these dynamic leaders through enrichment of the mind, body and soul. At its inception, only 3% of senior-level positions in the technology industry were held by Blacks. With a half-million new computer-related jobs expected by 2028, ITSMF is committed to increasing the number of qualified Black professionals for these positions.
