With all of the trades and movement of the NFL offseason, I expect some teams to plus up with the new additions, and some to go take a step back because of the competition and because of key lost personnel.
Let’s get into it.
Teams that will take steps back
With Deshaun Watson gone for 11 games, I expect the Browns to take a step back with Jacoby Brisett.
Expect the Tampa Bay Bucs to take a small step backward, with no Gronk, a makeshift offensive line, a new Coach, and no Antonio Brown. But with the NFC South still not being a great division they’ll still probably find a way to win 10 games in and sneak into the playoffs.
Seattle Seahawks will be tanking heavy this year after about 10 years of in Russ we trust. Starting Geno Smith at QB equals a rebuild.
Teams that will be better this season.
The Denver Broncos have been a quarterback away from relevance since Peyton Manning retired, with Russell Wilson I expect them to contend in the very tough AFC West, and win double digit games this season.
The New look Washington Commanders tend to pop up and win 9-10 games when they get decent quarterback. With Carson Wentz I expect the same thing, with a last place schedule I expect the Commanders to find a way to win 9-10 games and to sneak into the playoffs
The Miami Dolphins will be better this year because they have a great roster, and they are waiting for their young quarterback (Tua Tungavailoa) to develop. Mike McDaniel is from the Shanahan Coaching tree. The Shanahans know how to get the best out of their quarterbacks, Elway, Jimmy G, Matt Ryan, and RG3. I expect McDaniel to do the same with Tua.
Coach of the year prediction
I expect Doug Pederson to have the Jaguars looking like a professional football team again this season, and with a relatively weak division they have an opportunity to win a few games. So Pederson will be in the running for Coach of the year. The other candidate will be Dan Campbell. The try hard Detroit Lions who could still use some roster upgrades will give people hell this season.
Dan Campbell – Detroit Lions , Doug Pederson – Jacksonville Jaguars, Sleeper pick – Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins.
MVP of the league
Patrick Mahomes struggled a little last year and did not look great in the AFC Championship, but he played a lot in pre-season and is looking very sharp. I expect him to have a great bounce back season.
Leading Contender for me is Patrick Mahomes.
Other contenders will still be the quarterback OGs, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers who are dealing with losses of key personnel at skilled positions this year.
Super Bowl Contenders
Kansas City and Buffalo will in the AFC Championship game. The top three teams in the NFC will be the returning Champion Rams, the Packers and a level down will be the Tampa Bay Bucs. I believe this could be the year Aaron Rodgers without San Francisco in his way finally makes it back to the Super Bowl.
Green Bay vs Kansas City in the Super Bowl. I think Aaron Rodgers and his man bun and mercurial ways will finally win a second Super Bowl.
