In a move that has sparked controversy, the Supreme court ruled to abolish the legal right to abortion just a day after promoting gun rights in the gun regulation ruling. Not only is a pro-gun verdict likely to promote violence, but the United Nations also said that the anti-abortion judgment is “a huge blow to women’s human rights and gender equality.” Increased access to firearms is likely to promote gun violence. At least 500 lives are lost daily to gunfire.
This move will affect how people interact in public places such as theaters and subways. Similarly, the abortion decision has been left to the state. This will endanger the mental and physical well-being of women who will procure abortion services illegally.
