Fox’s 911 Star Angela Bassett makes history as the highest-paid Black actress on TV.
Following a series of pay increases on Fox’s drama series 9-1-1, Angela Bassett who just celebrated her 63rd birthday on August 16, has now made history as the highest-paid Black actress in broadcast TV history making near $450,000 an episode.
Kerry Washington reportedly started on Scandal at $80,000 per episode and ended up with $250,000 per episode by the finale. Viola Davis reportedly made $250,000 per episode two seasons into How to Get Away with Murder and may have earned around $450,000 by the finale.
Basset 9-1-1‘s lead male actor co-star Peter Krause, after his 25% raise, receives the second biggest check on the show at $300K per episode range. He is followed by Jennifer Love Hewitt, who joined the series in Season 2.
9-1-1 is bringing in the views and if it keeps getting renewed and the show keeps up its steam it will be well it its way catching up to grey’s anatomy and basset will become one of the highest-paid TV actresses of all time.
